On Thursday, 21st September, 2023, a Ghanaian beverage manufacturer Kasapreko Company Limited entered the Kenya market on the wings of Canary International Trading Company, a subsidiary of the Canary Group of Companies on their flagship gin and whiskey brands Alomo Bitters and Alomo Gold. The launch took place at the Ghana High Commission in Nairobi.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E Damptey Bediako Asare, in his keynote address to officially launch the products commended Canary International Limited as a Ghanaian trading company, together with its partner, Kasapreko Company Limited, for taking the bold step to venture into the Kenyan market with assorted products of high international standards.
He further noted that such efforts by the business community like Canary’s were the practical steps and measures required for the actualization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and to ensure its successful implementation for the benefit of the African people, adding that the success of AfCFTA would be beneficial to our economic development, especially in areas of economic growth and job creation for the youth.
Speaking during the launch of the products, Mr. Patrick Masope-Crabbe, founder of Canary Group of companies, said the firm will pursue a business-to-business (B2B) model to ensure that the products spread rapidly into the market to reach consumers across the region. Other speakers at the launch were Ambassador Fred Matwang’a and Mr. Patrick Nyangweso of the Foreign Ministry and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry respectively.
The event was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members of the Diplomatic Corp and a cross section of the Ghanaian Community in Kenya, among others.
